About Us
Fairweather is a family farm that grows a wide variety of local, certified organic vegetables and fruits that we offer to the public at farmers markets such as Lansdowne & Westboro in Ottawa.
We are dedicated to training the next generation of farmers to ensure food security for the future. After both myself and my father having graduated the Farm Management Technology program to learn about farming, we believe that the best way to learn how to become a farmer is to work on a farm. There is an open policy on knowledge at our farm and all questions will be answered to the best of our ability, to facilitate the learning process.
On our farm we NEVER spray any pesticides, which means you can learn how we control pests with only completely traditional practices that work in harmony with the environment and how we have created a thriving and balanced eco-system.
We have a small greenhouse where we grow our seedlings and heat crops such as tomatoes.
The farm has a blueberry field, and we will be working on maintaining, where you can learn about operating a small-scale production of blueberries.
We have a production of strawberries.
We also have a small orchard where we are growing an assortment of trees for the future, and I have a wealth of knowledge to share on the subject.
My parents will be usually up on the farm to help on Fridays and for the weekends with the markets and basket deliveries.
The farm uses a BCS walk behind tractor as well as other larger tractors for our field work.
We hope that you will want to return to work at the farm for years to come, which is why we do everything we can to offer the most rewarding and fulfilling experience possible.
